1月末に突然発表されたSeagateの重大欠陥ハードディスクで、急遽システムから取り外して保管しておいた物のファームウエアをアップデートした。とりあえず、これで解決なのか？
対象ハードディスク： ST3500320AS （500GB SATA）
ファームウエア： SD15
新しいファームウエアの入手は、Seagateのサポートページから。
Seagateのホームページのトップより検索したのでは、たどり着くことが出来なかった。２ちゃんねる掲示板に掛かれていたリンクから、やっと発見した… そんなに製品の不具合を隠したいのかな。
CDブートすると、このようなメニューが
とりあえず「S」キーを押して、現在のファームウエアを確認
「A」キーを押して、ファームウエアの書き換え。1分くらい掛かる
書き換えが終わり、何かキーを押すと電源が切れる
書き換え後、該当のハードディスクから起動して、ファームウエアのバージョンを調べてみる。
（とりあえず最初に、SMARTのショートテストを行う）

２ちゃんねるの掲示板では、このディスクに関して今回のアップデートでも他の不具合が残存しているとか、ファームウエア自体にバグがあるとかいろいろ書かれているが… とりあえず、バックアップ用のディスクとして、普段はマシンから取り外しているのでどうでもよいのだけど。 （Seagateの今回の情報隠蔽と瞑想ぶりを見ていると、この会社の信頼性は、一部の人の間では完全に失われたんじゃ無いだろうか）
